catwoman.jpgAs Zach mentioned yesterday in the Moviefile, there are rumors swirling about Cher playing Catwoman in Christopher Nolan's next Batman sequel. Or, rather, there were rumors. Over the weekend, the Telegraph was reporting that a "studio executive" said that Nolan wanted Cher to play the feline beauty as a "'vamp in her twilight years.'" Turns out it must have been Joe Magination, Senior Executive in Charge of Hooey, because a post at the Geeks of Doom has quashed that rumor. A response from Warner Bros. says simply: "Those casting rumors are untrue."

When I first heard about the (admittedly far-fetched) possibility of Cher in the next movie, I thought it was a terrible idea. But the idea kind of grew on me. A sort of sadder, faded Cruella DeVil brand of Catwoman certainly couldn't be worse than Halle Berry's 2004 turn in the leather bodysuit, could it? And it might even be an interesting change of pace. Who else might they cast in the part? Julie Newmar (none other than TV's original Catwoman herself) said that "she has knowledge" of Angelina Jolie wanting the part. Jolie, who is appropriately gorgeous and slinky and even has the backing of a porn star, is almost a little too obvious for the role. Where's the suspense? The surprise? She's already played a cat, anyway.

heroescast.jpgIf you are a Heroes fan, and I kind of presume that you are if you clicked on this column, this DVD set is one that you'll want to add to your collection. Now I'm not going to start defending the problematic and abridged second season of this superhero saga by saying that it was 13 incredible episodes. Because then I'd be lying, and I try not to do that on a regular basis. I thought the season was hit or miss, but still the set itself is pretty impressive and jam-packed full of extras that weren't just thrown on as an afterthought. The producers and cast of the show clearly have a passion for this series, and that comes across here.

I'm also not going to even attempt to thoroughly explain all that went down on this show in season 2; we've got full recaps for that. But suffice it to say it involved feudal Japan, a biological virus, a girl who has bleeding eyes, an Irish pub, lots of DNA stuff, a teenager who can fly and one notorious bad guy who likes to slice open heads and steal brains.

While the bonus feature I was initially most excited to see on this set was the alternate ending, it turned out that the best stuff was in the Untold Stories section. They are not only just scenes that are deleted, but arcs that never even made it to air. There's some truly fantastic stuff about Veronica... er, Elle tracking down Sylar. There are some more victims with unique abilities, that presumably Sylar has now made his own (judging by the twisted death scenes that unfold), and a fabulous scene between Elle and HRG about what a manipulative ass her father is. Good stuff. And then there's one amazing dream sequence with Mama Petrelli that gave me goosebumps and made me so excited for season 3. Which was probably the entire point of this.

The title suggests it might break a Hollywood taboo or two. Zack and Miri Make a Porno hits U.S. theaters in October. But just how pornographic is it? AP Entertainment questions the cast.

Headed to the movies this weekend but not sure what to see?

Watch the trailer for The House Bunny now, and then check out iVillage @ the Movies to see our previews and exclusive clips of the flicks hitting theaters today, before you go and shell out $12 for your ticket.

rentcast.jpgRent is coming to theaters. No, you're not having an acid flashback to 2005. The stage show, set to end its run on Broadway on September 7th, will have its final performance filmed and digitally shown in more than 500 theaters September 24- 28. The performance will feature the current Broadway cast and a couple of special appearances by original cast members. (I'm hoping for more age-appropriate roles for those original cast members, who valiantly came back and tried to portray characters a decade younger than they were in the 2005 Revolution Studios theatrical version.) You can check out the trailer for the special event.
