Friday Night Lights: The Second Season (Universal) – Now that NBC has given the thumbs up to a third season, it's okay to go ahead and get even more hooked on this fantastic, Emmy-worthy drama, which is that rare mix of sports, male bonding, rich characters, great acting, smart writing and pure soap opera-y goodness.
Bonus materials: Audio commentary, almost 40 minutes of deleted scenes and an interview with the cast.

Weeds: Season Three (Lionsgate) – Season four kicks off next week, and this clever dramedy is so good that's it's not too late to add it to the TiVo line-up if your dad isn't already hooked. If he is, he'll definitely want to revisit season three, when pot-dealing suburban mom Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and her Agrestic cohorts really hit new lows, and, pun intended, new highs. PS – Justin Kirk, as Nancy's slacker brother-in-law Andy, is scene-stealing perfection.
Bonus materials: Commentaries, a gag reel and several featurettes, including one on Kirk's Andy, a.k.a. "Uncle AWOL.".

Saturday Night Live The Complete Third Season - Limited Edition Boxed Set (Universal) – Classic SNL performances from season three include Dan Akroyd's Jimmy Carter impersonation, Akroyd and Steve Martin's "wild and crazy guys" sketch, the Coneheads playing Family Feud, Martin's King Tut performance, and musical guest appearances by Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and The Blues Brothers.
Bonus materials: A mockumentary following the cast as they perform other jobs (Bill Murray plays minor league baseball and Gilda Ratner charges people to tour her apartment), a fancy (i.e. sturdy) book-style box and four cool postcard-sized prints of the show's stars..

My Boys: The Complete First Season (Sony) – Baseball, beer and babes, though in this case, the lead babe is female sportswriter PJ (Jordano Spiro), who juggles her career and her group of mostly guy friends while also trying to find love. And hilariously, her career and her dude pals often interfere with that quest. The endearing show, with snappy writing and a terrific cast, is one of TV's best, and most underrated comedies, and a welcome non-reality entry to the summer line-up. Season two kicks off on TBS next week, making it the perfect time for a little Father's Day weekend marathon, no?

Dirty Harry Ultimate Collector's Edition (Warner Home Video) – Go ahead, punk … make your dad's day with this cool set that features all five of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry flicks.

Rambo: The Complete Collector's Set (Lionsgate) and Rocky: The Complete Saga Collection (MGM) – It's a Stallonepalooza, with all four Rambo flicks and all six Rocky flicks, making these two box sets together one fantastic (and very testosterone-y) gift for dad.
Bonus materials: Cool packaging for both (the Rambo set comes in a slick metal tin), as well as dozens of featurettes, interviews and theatrical trailers.

The BBC Natural History Collection (BBC Warner) – It's a nature and travel lover's dream set, with 17 discs that includes Planet Earth: The Complete Series (the single greatest nature series ever filmed, IMHO), The Blue Planet, The Life of Mammals and The Life of Birds.
Bonus materials: Behind-the-scenes features for most of the episodes, including a great collection of specials for the Planet Earth series, focusing on what an amazing journey went into the production of each of the mini-series' installments.

The West Wing: The Complete Series Collection (Warner Home Video) – A whopping 45 discs make up this handsomely packaged set, with all seven seasons of the Emmy-winning series that makes for perfect viewing in this presidential election year.
Bonus materials: The packaging – faux navy leather file box, with gold embossed seal, as well as gag reels, dozens of commentaries and featurettes and the pilot script with notes from West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin.
